Orion welcomes a new supplier to the Group
Orion welcomes C&G Concrete Pumping to the Group. C&G Concrete Pumping Ltd are CPCS approved concrete pumping specialists with over 15 years of experience in pumping concrete in the UK. We can pump concrete in excess of 300 ft and can take the pipeline straight through or around a building or even up and over with our boom pumps. Orion Members advertising to each other
Members can now advertise to each other on the Orion App, the secure smartphone App for Orion Members. Create adverts, view adverts and express interests on any posted adverts all via the App - from Sales, through Wanted to Hire or Contract work - communicate securely with other App Users. There are many ways to communicate items for sale or wanted - Facebook Groups, Commercial press, WhatsApp Groups - and if you as an Orion Member want to advertise to other Members, this is the place to do so. Compound feed update
If GLW supply your compound feed, please take a minute to read this. During the busier winter months, GLW are advising that the lead time for deliveries will be seven working days, up from the normal five working days. They do however offer a “standing order” service. The way this operates is that standing orders are placed in advance on a regular pattern and then one of their customer services team calls a few days before the load is due to be delivered, to make sure the scheduled day is still correct or if it’s not, it’s re-scheduled according to requirements. By doing this, it enables them to plan production and deliveries more efficiently and economically. If you’d like to take advantage of this service, in order to best manage your compound feed deliveries, please contact Geoff Homewood, 07974 684753, to discuss it in more detail.
Molasses
The molasses winter period started on the 1st October and runs through until the end of April 24 and once again the tender has been awarded to ForFarmers. Not only are prices down on the preceding summer period, but they are also cheaper than the corresponding period last year. Prices are held at the office.

Congratulations to Nick & Lucy Tyler of Kingsplay Farming in Wiltshire for being nominated ‘Mixed Farmers of the Years’ in the prestigious Farmers Weekly Awards. Several reasons contributed to them winning this award among them, the smart integration of the dairy unit, Wagyu-cross beef cattle and arable enterprises, an excellent focus on finding a niche Wagyu beef market and creating an own-brand label, a strong ability to market farm produce to maximise returns and a brilliant commitment and enthusiasm to educating young children about all aspects of farming. Well done Nick & Lucy.
Lead times
Please bear in mind when ordering palletised products that lead times are normally 3-5 working days, however in the case of minerals, deliveries can take anything up to 10 working days and for members who take Envirolac the lead time is currently 14 working days.
And Finally…
Totally irrelevant but quite interesting facts of the month… The Harvard-Yale boat race takes place on a river called the Thames and London; Ontario is on a river called the Thames.
