Orion Farming Fuel Q & A

Q:What has Brent crude done this week?
A: Brent has been highly volatile. It spiked to $119.50/barrel during the Strait of Hormuz disruption, then fell sharply to around $91.70/barrel after a temporary US-Iran ceasefire raised hopes that oil flows would resume.

Q:  What is the main issue affecting fuel supply right now?
A: The key issue is the Strait of Hormuz, which carries roughly 20% of global oil transit. Even with the ceasefire, the market is treating the situation as fragile, so supply risk has eased but has not disappeared.

Q: Does the fall in Brent mean farm diesel prices will drop straight away?
A: Not necessarily. Wholesale markets reacted quickly, and European diesel prices have already fallen, but analysts still expect a geopolitical risk premium to linger while the ceasefire remains temporary and physical supply chains normalise.

Q: What should UK farmers watch most closely over the next few days?
A: Watch whether the ceasefire holds and whether traffic through Hormuz continues to reopen properly. If it does, crude and diesel markets should calm further. If not, volatility could return fast. That keeps fuel purchasing conditions nervous, even after this week’s pullback in Brent
