Orion Farming Fuel Q & A
Q:What is Brent crude doing this week?
A: Brent has moved sharply higher and hit a one-month high, trading around $112 to $114 per barrel on 29 April as the market reacted to renewed concerns over disruption in the Gulf.
Q: What is affecting fuel supply right now?
A: The main issue remains disruption around the Strait of Hormuz. Reuters reports that the closure and wider blockade concerns are still restricting normal crude movements, and ADNOC has even told some customers they may be able to load certain crude grades outside the Gulf to avoid Hormuz disruption.
Q: What does that mean for farming fuel costs?
A: It means farming fuel costs are likely to stay firm and volatile. Higher Brent feeds directly into wholesale fuel values, and ongoing disruption to physical flows keeps a risk premium in the market rather than allowing diesel-related prices to ease cleanly.
Q: What should UK farmers watch most closely?
A: Watch whether traffic through Hormuz improves, whether the blockade risk eases, and whether Brent holds above $110 per barrel or pushes higher again. Those are the clearest indicators of whether fuel markets stabilise or come under further pressure.
